Privacy Policy for Lines Ahead

This policy explains how Lines Ahead handles information on Android, iPhone, and Reddit. The developer responsible for the game is Siarhei Piatrouski (Siarhei Piatroŭski) (“I” or “me”).

1. Overview
- Lines Ahead does not require a separate game account. Reddit features use your Reddit account.
- The game does not display advertising, and I do not sell personal information.
- Mobile saves and settings are primarily stored on your device. On Reddit, game data is also stored on Reddit’s Developer Platform and associated with your Reddit account within the relevant game installation.
- Android and iPhone versions use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. The Reddit version does not enable these Firebase services.
- Optional purchases unlock visual themes only. Apple, Google, or Reddit handles checkout; I do not receive your payment-card details.
2. Saved games and preferences
The game stores board state, replay action history, scores, statistics, Journey and Daily Signal progress, tutorial progress, sound and display preferences, theme selection, and purchase-access status. It may also store pending leaderboard submissions and recovery information.
On Android and iPhone, this information is primarily stored locally. Clearing the game’s storage or deleting the app removes local data, subject to any backup and restore features provided by your operating system.
On Reddit, the game uses your Reddit user ID to save and retrieve this information from Reddit-hosted storage. Local browser storage may also hold preferences, cached data, and pending operations. Clearing browser storage does not delete the associated server records.
3. Leaderboards and identity
Android and iPhone
Optional leaderboards and achievements use Google Play Games Services or Apple Game Center. The relevant service provides a gaming player ID, display name, authentication status, scores, and achievement progress. You can manage your gaming profile and privacy through that platform’s controls.
The game processes your Reddit user ID and username, the relevant subreddit context, server-issued run identifiers, game mode, scores, Journey level completions, and submission timestamps.
To verify competitive results, the game sends a replay to its Reddit-hosted backend. A replay includes the starting seed, rule and balance versions, recorded gameplay actions, and claimed results. The server reconstructs the run to check the result and prevent fabricated scores. Verification records and replay evidence may be retained for ranking integrity and dispute investigation.
Leaderboards for Classic, Entangled Worlds, and Journey can publicly display your Reddit username, rank, score or verified progression, and result-related details. Your saved board and full replay are not presented as public leaderboard content. Reddit achievements are currently hidden.
4. Theme Collection purchases
Theme Collection is an optional one-time cosmetic purchase processed through Google Play, Apple’s App Store, or Reddit Gold.
The game receives product and price information, purchase status, transaction or order identifiers, and entitlement information needed to grant access, restore purchases, prevent duplicate fulfillment, and handle refunds or reversals. Mobile versions keep a local entitlement cache; their current purchase flow does not upload store receipts or purchase tokens to a developer-operated verification server.
On Reddit, the backend stores your Reddit user ID, order identifiers, product, Gold price, purchase and refund status, timestamps, and theme entitlement in Reddit-hosted storage. These records are used to confirm and restore access and reconcile reversed transactions. Purchases do not transfer between mobile stores and Reddit.
The payment provider processes payment credentials under its own policy. Contact me for missing theme access; payment and refund assistance is also available through the relevant platform.
5. Diagnostics and support
On Android and iPhone, Firebase Analytics processes usage and gameplay events, session and installation identifiers, app version, device and operating-system information, and approximate region. Firebase Crashlytics processes crash reports, stack traces, installation identifiers, technical diagnostics, and limited gameplay context such as mode, score, and move count.
I do not intentionally send gaming-platform player IDs, names, email addresses, payment details, purchase tokens, order identifiers, store receipts, saved boards, or full replays to Firebase Analytics or crash-report custom fields.
The Reddit version uses Reddit’s hosting and operational diagnostics rather than Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics. Reddit may process connection, device, and service information under its own privacy policy.
If you contact support, I receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, Reddit username, problem description, screenshots, and order reference. Do not send passwords or payment-card details.
6. Providers and disclosures
Information is processed by the providers relevant to your platform and chosen features:
- Google: Firebase, Google Play Games Services, and Google Play Billing. See Google Privacy Policy and Firebase Privacy and Security.
- Apple: App Store, StoreKit, Game Center, and applicable purchase-sharing features. See Apple Privacy Policy.
- Reddit: account context, hosting, storage, leaderboards, and Gold payments. See Reddit Privacy Policy.
- Services you choose: if you share a result or follow an external link, the destination handles that interaction under its own policy.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, protect users, or secure the service. Providers may process information internationally under the safeguards described in their policies.
This game policy does not replace the separate privacy and cookie notices of Reddit, the app stores, or websites you visit, including the developer website.
7. Purposes and legal bases
Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, processing relies on:
- Performance of a contract or requested service: saving progress, providing requested records features, delivering purchases, and resolving support requests.
- Legitimate interests: protecting competitive integrity, preventing fraud, diagnosing failures, and improving reliability, subject to your rights and interests.
- Consent: where required for optional processing. Consent may be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- Legal obligations: complying with applicable consumer, accounting, security, and other legal requirements.
The game does not request GPS location, contacts, microphone recordings, or payment-card details. Platform providers may infer a general location from connection information.
8. Retention, deletion, and your rights
Local data remains until it is reset, removed, or replaced by the game or your device’s storage controls. Reddit-hosted saves, ranking evidence, and entitlement records are retained while needed to provide those features, investigate abuse, resolve disputes, or meet applicable legal obligations; they do not currently expire after a fixed inactivity period. Support correspondence is retained as needed to resolve the request and related obligations. Provider-controlled records follow the relevant provider’s retention policies.
For access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests, email support@piatrouski.com with the subject “Lines Ahead privacy request”. For Reddit requests, include your username and the subreddit where you played. I may need to verify account ownership. Some information may need to be retained for fraud prevention, disputes, or legal requirements, as permitted by law.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, obtain portable information, withdraw consent, and complain to a data-protection authority. There is no separate Lines Ahead account to delete. You can use Google, Apple, or Reddit account controls for information those providers control independently; contacting me does not delete those platform accounts.
9. Children and security
Lines Ahead is a general-audience puzzle game. The Reddit version is subject to Reddit’s account-age and other eligibility requirements. I do not knowingly ask children to provide direct contact or payment information. Contact me if you believe a child has supplied personal information inappropriately.
Reasonable safeguards include platform-protected storage, encrypted connections, and server-side account and purchase checks. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.
10. Changes and contact
Updates to this policy will appear at the policy URL with a revised date. Material changes to data handling will be reflected in the policy and applicable platform disclosures.
